KPMG, the international audit and accountancy firm has denied media allegations that Nii Amanor Dodoo was dismissed. Nii Amanor Dodoo is a former senior Country Partner of the firm.

He recently assumed position as the receiver for five banks; Beige Bank, Unibank, Construction Bank, Sovereign Bank and The Royal Bank. These institutions collapsed during the recent restructuring exercise in the banking sector

KPMG refuted allegations going round in media circles that Mr Dodoa has been fired from his job. The reports stated that the receiver’s contract with KPMG was terminated after some mal-practices were discovered regarding the receivership process.

The firm issued a statement in Accra denying any such reports which first appeared in a private newspaper. The statement stressed that allegations regarding termination of Nii Amanor Dodoo’s engagement as receiver for the five banks are unfounded.

The statement further mentioned that Mr. Amanor Dodoo had retired from KPMG, a company he had served for 40 years. He was subsequently honoured by the firm. Additionally Anthony Sarpong has been appointed as the new Senior Country Partner.

Of interest, the statement further said that: “In his capacity as the Receiver of the defunct banks, the firm is providing a team of professionals to support Nii Amanor Dodoo. The engagement has been performed to meet standards expected of the Receiver by law and in line with KPMG’s professional standards,”
