The United States of America has opened up their airport, easing the Covid travel ban to all foreign travellers to the US.

This is the first time in 18 months since ex-president Donald Trump, placed various levels of the travel ban. It is a giant post-Covid move to restore travel and its economic benefits to the country.

The current rules bar entry to most non-US citizens who have been in the UK and a number of EU countries, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil within the last 14 days.

From 1st November 2021, persons from all over the world who are fully vaccinated would be allowed into the country. Additionally, travellers have to agree to Covid testing, three days before travel, adhere to contact tracing and wearing of masks throughout their journey. There would however be no need to quarantine. Unvaccinated travellers, however, would have to undergo stricter testing.

Holiday Destination Search – Travel Ban Ease

According to the BBC, in the first hour of this announcement, search for US holiday destinations shot up by 700%. British Airways shares rose as much as 10% in response to the new travel rules. Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of American Airlines, calls it a “science-based approach” to lifting travel restrictions. The travel ban at a point reduced travel by as much as 85%

This gesture applies immediately to politicians and other diplomats. However, easing of the travel ban will apply to the EU, UK and other country nationals from 1st November.
