The Future of Learning Hack is an Ashesi Design Lab initiative which seeks to enable individuals to leverage their design thinking and innovative abilities in addressing the challenges associated with online examination.

It is set to begin on the 1st of July and end on the 14th of July 2020. In this 2-Week program, participants will explore ideas and come up with solutions to the problems of online examination.

While COVID-19 has caused great distress in the educational sector, many top Ghanaian universities have responded well to the situation by employing an online approach to teaching and learning.

This virtual approach to education is indeed a timely one. But if you once ran out of data in the middle of an exam, or perhaps delayed in submitting documents due to slow internet, then you would know there are some setbacks with the system.

In light of this, the Ashesi Design Lab wishes to give every problem-solver out there a chance to resolve some of these current educational problems through its Future Learning Hack.

ELIGIBILITY

The event is opened to students, designers, developers, edutech startups, schools, education innovators, and anyone interested in making a positive impact on education. Please note that the hackathon requires applicants to be in teams of 3 to 5 members: It’s fun when teamwork is involved.

WHAT ARE THE TEAMS SUPPOSE TO DO?

Teams are expected to:

1. Identify some challenges in online examination systems.

2. Develop solutions in the form of prototypes.

3. Pitch their ideas to judges and stand a chance of winning the Hackathon.

As simple as that. Remember, the Ashesi Design Lab team will be there to assist teams along the way if there are any problems or clarifications.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR WINNERS?

Hackathons are the best places to connect and collaborate. So you will make new friends and that’s more than winning. That said, 5 teams, with the top great ideas or solutions, will be awarded by many sponsors including a 50% discount on rides using Feenix, 14 days free subscription to eCampus, some goodies from Vodafone and many more.

It’s not as daunting as it looks. It’s fun.

And you don’t want to miss out on this.

Who knows? Your idea may be the next big thing.

See you there.
