Failure is only necessary to the extent that it defines how we approach life in the long run. Failing at something in the medium term should never be misconstrued as failure in life. The relevance of failure is seen in EXPERIENCE, but experience which doesn’t translate into success ultimately is simply called Futility. Unsuccessful people all over the world share a few traits in common. There may be few exceptions but generally, here are five things unsuccessful people never stop doing;

1.    Procrastinate
John C Maxwell once quipped, “Many “experts” say we should be arrested for murder when we kill time. Close examination, however, makes it obvious that killing time is not murder – it’s suicide.” I believe this quote summarizes the essence and relevance of time in our lives. That which can be achieved today must never be postponed to tomorrow. The best way to postpone your success is through procrastination. This is one of the numerous things unsuccessful people never stop doing.

2.    Blame Everyone
If you want to easily identify any unsuccessful person, listen closely to how they speak. They blame everyone but themselves for how life has treated them. They blame the government, society, and their parents for all their troubles. Winners bother little with what someone did or did not do. They create their future by doing something with their lives today. Do you want to become successful? Stop blaming others and get to work!!

3.    Seldom set Targets
Zig Ziglar once said that, “if you aim at nothing, you always hit it.” You cannot live in this world by betting your luck on success. You become successful by making a decision to become successful and this decision is expressed in the language called daily targets. Unfortunately for unsuccessful people, deciding what to do each day is too much of a responsibility for them, so they live all they lives shooting at anything in sight. That is not a wise approach to making meaning of your life.

4.    Refuse to Grow up
Growth delayed is destiny postponed. How you grow is to add value to yourself. Unsuccessful people fortunately attempt many things in life, but mainly fail to develop their capacities to sustain their achievements. To become successful and remain successful, one must constantly add value to his live. Unfortunately unsuccessful people never seem to get this principle.

5.    Do not learn from your mistakes
It is often said that only a fool does the same thing over and over again and expect to have different results. Mistakes are indicators that we need to rethink the strategy, re-work the methodologies and sometimes refocus our energies. He who refuses to learn from his mistakes shall learn the hard way the sting of failure in life.
