Dr. Nii Darko Asante, the Director of Technical Regulation, Energy Commission, says the Commission would promote proven and effective energy efficiency measures to help businesses cut cost during the current power crisis.

He said the Commission was committed to ensuring that Ghana’s energy resources were utilized sustainably and efficiently to enhance development.

Dr Nii Asante was speaking at a forum hosted by Philip Lighting on the theme: “Sustainable Businesses through the Energy crisis,” in Accra on Tuesday.

The event focused on the key energy challenges facing businesses and highlighted the role that Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology could play in improving energy efficiency.

The forum was also to introduce a series of Philip LED Lighting products designed to support businesses in the country.

Some of the LED lighting products include CoreLine recessed, smartBright Troffer, SmartBay and Green Perform HighBay.

He said one of such measures was the innovation of LED lighting systems, which has the potential to, not only help businesses to be more energy efficient, but could ultimately aid in saving costs.

He urged Ghanaians to play a part in the choice and behaviours that take cognisance of energy efficiency.

Dr Nii Asante said the Commission has drafted a new legislative instrument, which is currently with the Attorney General’s Department, to help regulate lighting in the country.

Mr Felix Darko, the General Manager, Philip Lighting, West Africa said the company was committed to developing innovative lighting solutions that could benefit businesses across Africa.

“Philip is passionate about improving the quality of life for Ghanaians across the country and in light of the current energy crisis,” he added.

He said the company has presented business with LED lighting solutions that does not only reduce their energy costs drastically but also improves productivity and relieves pressure on the national grid.

“The LED Lighting gives a lot of advantages compared to conventional lighting,” he said.

Mr Darko said it also enables digitalization, resulting in a paradigm shift to connected lighting.

“Philip LED collection is not only the most versatile LED commodity range in the market but also offers reliability, affordability and high performance,” he added.
