The government has secured a 33 million euro loan facility from the AirBus Defence and Space SAU for the acquisition of a C-295 CASA aircraft and related equipment.
It has also contracted the services of VTB Capital PLC, London to raise 300 million pounds for the Ghana Armed Forces ( GAF ) for peacekeeping duties.
A paper on the agreements was laid in Parliament yesterday.
The laying of the papers brought the Leader of the Minority, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, to his feet.
He urged the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and the Interior to ensure that due diligence was done on the loan agreement for the purchase of the aircraft.
He contended that similar loan agreements had not benefitted the nation and had been fraught with corruption.
He urged the Speaker, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, to ensure that the committee did thorough due diligence on the purchase
But Mr Adjaho noted that the report of the committee would prove whether the loan facility would benefit the nation or not.
