President Mahama leaves for Kenya on a 3-day State Visit

President John Dramani Mahama will be a Special Guest at the 51st Independence Anniversary Celebration of the Republic of Kenya on Friday, December 12, 2014.

Mr. Mahama who leaves Accra Thursday morning, is paying a 3-day State Visit to Nairobi at the invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta. It follows a resolve by the new Kenyan leader to rekindle the fraternal bond and relations between his father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Discussions between the two young African leaders is expected to focus on how Ghana and Kenya, both bulwarks in West and East Africa respectively, can influence a new agenda of increased trade among African countries.

President Mahama, Chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and President Kenyetta, Chair of the East African Community (EAC) will also share their perspectives on how to drive the African renaissance and integration process.

President Mahama will visit the Mzee Jomo Kenyatta Mausoleum and meet with the United Nations Staff in Kenya. In the evening of Friday, the President will meet and interact with the Ghanaian community in Kenya.
