The Ghana Football Association (GFA), will refund four million dollars to the government when proceeds from Ghana’s participation in the 2014 FIFA reflects in their accounts. The GFA is expected to receive eight million dollars from FIFA for exiting at the group stages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The amount will be the refund of appearance fees paid to the Black Stars during the World Cup by the government. Kwesi Nyantakyi, disclosed this to the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday. He said the GFA had had discussions with Minister of Youth and Sports on the move adding that, the rest will be given to the GFA to embark on developmental projects in football. According to Nyantakyi, initial plans of using part of the proceeds to develop other sporting disciplines have been revised. The GFA president denied rumours that, the GFA took double payments from organisers of friendly matches and their headline sponsors; Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC). He said GNPC financed only two friendly matches against Japan and Turkey, whilst the rest were funded by GFA and match agents. Source: Graphic
