The Chairman of the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association (GCEA), Kofi Asare-Yeboah, has said that the economic development of any country and its continuous growth are heavily dependent on the country’s ability to design, construct and maintain a very efficient infrastructure.
Mr. Asare-Yeboah said this at the media launch of the FIDIC-GAMA 2015 Conference slated for Ghana in April next year. FIDIC is the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, founded in 1913 with the objective of promoting the interest of consulting engineering firms globally. GAMA is the Group of Africa Member Associations of FIDIC.
Eng. Asare-Yeboah hinted that that design, supervision of construction and development of the maintenance regime for the infrastructure are essentially handled by the country’s assembly of consulting engineering firms.
“With our emerging oil and gas industry, and the passing of the local content bill of the energy sector of our economy, positioning the indigenous Consulting Engineering Industry to assume its proper place in development of the country is long overdue”.
Eng. Kwesi Abbey Sam urged engineers in the country to deliver quality design, construction and maintain their works to stand the test of time.
The FIDIC-GAMA 2015 Conference, which will bring together over 500 delegates from across Africa and the rest of the world, is under the theme “Developing and Sustaining Africa’s Infrastructure: Promoting African Consulting Engineering Partnerships”.

Albert Ogyiri, called on corporate bodies to partner with them from the 12th to 15th April, 2014 at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, as FIDIC-GAMA connects the leading global players and partners in the infrastructure and industrial sector to create innovative Sustainable Solutions and Business Opportunities at the upcoming conference.
Present at the media launch were: Eng. Magnus Lincoln Quarshie, President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers; Eng. Kwabena Sarfo-Debrah, past-president of the Ghana Institution of Engineers; representatives from engineering firms; and members of the Ghana Consulting Engineers Association.
