Ghana’s dependence on imports has reduced – President Akuffo-Addo

President Akuffo-Addo has mentioned that the Covid-19 pandemic has reduced Ghana’s reliance on foreign imports and enhanced its local production capacity, especially in the area of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Speaking at his 10th Covid-19 update, the said the local manufacturing firms have helped the country to scale up its production and distribution of PPEs to its front line staff involved in the fight against the deadly virus.

“We have lessened our dependence on foreign imports, and scale up significantly domestic production of and distribution of personal protective equipment to our healthcare workers’, he said.

This, he added, is.evident in the distribution of 4,440,690 gloves, 3,524, 205 nose mask, 62, 194 googles, 109, 829 litres of sanitizers, and 85,995 head covers.

The rest are the distribution of 82,655 gowns, 53,517 medical scrubs and 43,633, N-95 face masks.
