The banking sector in Ghana has gone through a challenging reform process over the last few years.
A number of banks have had their licences revoked, others have merged to meet the new minimum requirement, and some also have winded up and signed assumption agreement with other banks.
Some bank successfully pulled through the challenging times and are still doing brisk business in the country. Some of these banks are said to have great Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) or Managing Directors (MD) who are spearheading innovations and making their banks more customer friendly among others.
Below is a profile of the Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, Henry Oroh.
Henry Oroh is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited with almost two decades of experience in the banking industry.
Prior to assuming this role, he served in the capacity of Executive Director with oversight responsibility for Marketing, Corporate Banking and Business Development.
Before joining Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, Henry was with Zenith Bank Plc and served in several Managerial roles where he exhibited exceptional leadership skills and was able to inspire his Group to achieve the coveted title of “the most profitable” as well as “the highest in deposits” bank wide. His expertise cuts across operations, IT, treasury, and Marketing especially, the Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Public Sector, Consumer as well as Corporate Banking.
Henry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Benin, Benin City and an MBA from the Lagos State University. He is a Chartered Accountant and an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria. Henry also holds an LLB from the University of London.
Before joining Zenith Bank Plc, he spent over seven (7) years at Citibank where he served in Operations, Treasury and Marketing.
Henry has won some local and international accolades and most recently was adjudged the Best Banking CEO Ghana, 2017 by the International Finance Magazine as well as Corporate Personality of the Year at the West Africa Business Excellence Awards 2018.
He has attended several courses locally and abroad, including Executive Management Courses at The Harvard Business School, Columbia University, University of Chicago, HEC Paris, JP Morgan Chase UK, Bode Agusto & Co., Nigeria and Lagos Business School.
Henry has a strong passion for the growth of the brand in Ghana and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of strategies which have culminated in the increase of the Bank’s capacity, size, market share and industry rankings in all parameters. He has also spearheaded the introduction of innovative banking products and services in the Ghanaian market. Under his able leadership, he has ensured that excellent customer experience remains at the centre of the Bank’s customer service strategy.
