The Upgraded Ghana cedi note to be in circulation today

Effective today, May 6, 2019, the upgraded and security-enhanced Ghana cedi notes from the Bank of Ghana will be in circulation.

According to the Bank of Ghana, the upgraded Ghana cedi will have enhanced security features in line with evolving changes in the technological landscape.

The upgraded banknotes will also come with improved durability and machine readability. 

The notes were signed by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, on March 4 2019.

Meanwhile, the bank of Ghana has stated that the upgraded and the existing series of banknotes will co-circulate.

As part of measures to get the citizenry educated on the upgraded cedi note, below is a clearer version of the upgraded cedi notes.
