Bank of Ghana to Focus on Savings & Loans Sector
A lot has already happened the banking sector which seems to be attaining some certainty and finality. With the universal banking environment now settling, it is expected that the regulator turns its attention to the Savings & Loans sector to deal with the issues of customer deposits.
On the side of governance, the BOG has already issued a directive and its transition provisions. The governance reforms in universal banking space are expected to trickle down to the Savings & Loans sector and even the lower tiers of the Microfinance and Rural banking environment.
Liquidity support may also come depending on how the regulator sees the depth of rescue needed. The driving force would be instilling public confidence in the banking industry.
