National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) to Consider Increasing Capitalisation for Trustees

The NPRA hinted in a recent industry engagement to increase the capitalisation of Corporate Trustees to match up the current reforms in the financial industry.  Corporate Trustees currently have to capitalize by Ghs1 million in cash and assets.  Private pension funds of the Tiers 2 & 3 have nearly hit the Ghs 14 billion mark.   As private pension funds have grown and are growing, Trustees are bearing higher risks.   They should therefore prove a higher capability to bear those risks in serving the public.
