Here are 4 suggestions for employee perks that may help you retain and attract top talent.

When prospective employees are considering a job offer, they’re probably looking at more than just salary. In our thriving job market, they’re likely taking perks and employee benefits into consideration as well.

While some employee perks may seem frivolous at first glance, adding a few perks may keep your employees happy and contribute to your company’s bottom line. Here are ways to add employee perks that may help you attract and retain employees.
Create a Bonus System

If employees believe they will be rewarded for their good work, they may be more likely to improve their performance. Creating bonus goals based on performance can be an affordable way to retain top talent. In some cases, short-term bonuses can even be more cost-effective than salary increases.

Provide Food and Drinks
The idea that the way to a person’s heart is through his stomach can also resonate in the workplace. Providing snacks and drinks for your office can help boost office culture and keep your employees fueled for productive workdays. Consider stocking “office basics” like water, coffee and tea every day. This can help keep employees from venturing out during the day when they need a caffeine fix. If daily snacks or lunches are too costly for your small business, consider having designated snack days per week or month.

Promote Work-Life Balance
Positive work-life balance can help lead to higher productivity in the office. Consider providing flexible hours and options of working remotely. Encourage your employees to take vacation time and increase vacations days based on how long they’ve worked at the company.

Be Creative With Perks
Bonuses, time off and snacks may be some of the most popular ways to create employee perks, but you should still think outside the box. Consider particular needs of your office culture that can be improved. Maybe introduce nap rooms, gym memberships or even day-care services. Try conducting “stay interviews” to find out what your employees like and dislike about their jobs. Unique employee perks can help show your employees that you’re

listening to their needs and interests.
And finally, simply saying “thank you” and showing your employees that you’re grateful can be highly effective. Expressing gratitude can help promote positive relationships between you and you employees, and in turn, employees are likely to take more pride in their work and show more gratitude to customers.
