PHD Ghana, a global media agency, is showing business agility in the midst of the Coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak. Ghana has so far confirmed 6 cases and working assiduously to contain the spread. PHD Ghana, a leader in business masterclass events has re-engineered its upcoming ‘Challenger Means Business’ Masterclass for SMEs to an online only event.
Business Agility is simply the ability of an organisation to adapt quickly to market changes – internally and externally. Agility is key when markets fluctuate and become volatile throwing uncertainties in the faces of businesses. Some businesses, including the famously cited Kodak and Blackberry, suffered massive loses to the point of extinction. However, adversity sometimes brings out the best in us as we move to be as creative and innovative as possible, not to succeed but to survive. Uber, AirBnb, WhatsApp, Square, Pinterest, Slack and Twilio were all started in 2008 and 2009 (the worst time for world financial industry).

The Test of Agility
PHD Ghana’s philosophy for the Masterclass, ‘the Challenger Thinking’, has been tested with the outbreak of the Coronavirus. In the face of the virus, industries have recorded unimaginable losses, which may never be quantified globally. Financial markets globally have sunk to their lowest since the 2008 financial meltdown, football leagues and competitions have been cancelled, airlines grounded, events have been cancelled. And this is where PHD Ghana is standing out, not to cancel the Challenger Masterclass in the face of the coronavirus but to innovate and stay on. The test of agility is how fast an organisation acts. PHD Ghana’s Managing Director, Mr. Bright Ladzekpo, made the announcement when stakeholders met on 24th February to launch the ‘Challenger Masterclass Livestream’ event. That is some four weeks before the presidential directive on Coronavirus.
The Positive in Adversity like Coronavirus
Speaking to the Managing Director of PHD Ghana, Mr. Bright Ladzekpo, he alluded to the fact that this adversity is also a time for businesses to look deep into themselves and innovate. The blessing in this global situation is that businesses would be forced to look for other ways to do business and therefore build in themselves this desirable attribute of AGILITY. Human resource managers may have to look at managing workforce from different locations, marketers would need to look for ways to reach their clients and sees technology leading the way. ‘I see techies rise and rise’, he said.
Ghana Talks Business believes that whatever positive action businesses take to survive at this time may continue even after the pandemic. SAP, the tech giant, in a recent study revealed that 51% of companies globally did not have any business continuity plans for the business disruption agent like the Coronavirus. Any system thus put in place would still remain after the crises to the long-term benefit of the company.
The ONLINE MASTERCLASS
PHD Ghana’s newly innovated online event is targeted to SMEs to build their capacity in marketing their businesses to optimize benefits at much less cost. Speakers Bright Ladzekpo and David Blythe of eatbigfish fame would speak on Challenger thinking while Dela Agbo, CEO of EcoCapital Investment Management leads the session on business funding.
The Masterclass event would create two workshops, one on marketing and another on business funding.
From registration to execution is all online and participants would have an experience of an agile innovation.
Participants should register online and experience how PHD Ghana is innovating around the adversity and virtually creating a new model.
Ghana Talks Business would keep featuring businesses who are showing agility in these days
