Kofi Nti the former Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority retired on October 1, 2019 and for his replacement, Ministry of Finance appointed Commissioner for Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah to act.
Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah is now the acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority and still responsible for DTRD.
Government of Ghana in June 2019, appointed three new top management level staff to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) which included Mr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
The three were appointed in line with the new changes being made at the Authority aimed at mobilizing revenue.
In line with that, the new appointees are expected to drive a number of critical transformational changes including modernising and digitising tax processes and systems as well as increase the quality of tax payer services.
Meet the new GRA boss, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah
Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah started his career at Standard Chartered Bank where he was the Head of Operations and Technology, Ghana.
Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah was also a former deputy Managing Director at uniBank Ghana Limited responsible for the bank’s ICT, Risk, Audit, Strategies, Governance, and Compliance and subsequently became the Managing Director of Unibank from 2009.
Before joining uniBank, Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah was the Group Head of Operations at Ecobank Transactional Incorporated (ETI).
The New GRA boss joined the Tanzania Finance Industry barely 2011 when he resigned from uniBank and accepted an appointment as the Managing Director of Bank of Africa in Tanzania, the bank that acquired majority stake in Amalbank.

He became a member of the Board of the Tanzania Umoja Switch Company Limited, a company that provides automated teller machine (ATM) and electronic cards switch platform for about 25 major banks across Tanzania, boasting a network of over 300 ATMs across Tanzania.
Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Henley Management College, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences – Economics and Sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
