Marked annually on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD), “a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women” and a day marking “a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”
This year is heralded with the theme: “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” In this article, we recognise 5 outstanding women entrepreneurs in Ghana. As such we are shining the light on five (5) Ghanaian women entrepreneurs who took on the risks of starting their own businesses and challenging the male dominance narrative.
“A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge,” a statement on the IWD website read.
