MTN has unveiled a new logo as part of a major rebrand. The rebrand happened on 27 February 2022.
The rebrand is the second since the Group was founded in 1994. The first rebrand in 2004 saw MTN take ownership of the colour yellow that is now synonymous with the company. Today, MTN is recognized as Africa’s most valuable brand.

The new logo sees ‘MTN’ written in normal block letters with an oval of the same colour around it. The new brand identity is modern, simple, bold, and digitally dynamic. It asks a simple question, “What are we doing today?”
“Africa is a continent with enormous opportunity and energy. We want to play our part in harnessing her potential and supporting her progress by driving digital and financial inclusion. It is a well-known fact that the youth are central to achieving this potential.”

MTN Rebrands – New Logo
Nompilo Morafo, MTN chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer, said the new look aligns with the group’s evolution from a telecommunications company to a technology company.
As a telecommunication company, MTN over time has facilitated communication on a global scale. Means of facilitation has been through the phone or the Internet, through airwaves or cables, through wires or wirelessly.
Evolving into a technology company on the other hand will see MTN engaging in business relating to digital electronics, software, and internet-related services, such as e-commerce services. The company has already begun this journey with its flagship Mobile Money services.

“Our commitment and focus to accelerate Africa’s progress sees MTN revealing a refreshed brand identity and campaign from 27 February,” said Morafo.
