The African leadership magazine (ALM) are the organizers of African Persons of the Year awards. The magazine has come out with winners for 2019 awards for the different categories.
Egyptian President Addel Fattah is the African Political leaders of the year 2019. Also Dr Akinwumi Adesina is the winner of the African of the year 2019 award.
The Poll for the awards is a keen contest across seven different categories. This year’s contest pulled 300000 entries on the magazine’s website, across social media platforms and submissions via email.

Grand finale of the awards will be on 28th February 2020 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Winners will receive decoration and their instruments of honour at the event, which will attract leaders in African politics, diplomacy and business.

Winners are role models for Africa
ALM’s publisher Ken Giami said, “The nominees have demonstrated great faith in the Africa project, and are ‘walking their talk’ in their communities. They all are true lovers of Africa, determinedly contributing, sometimes amidst very difficult circumstances, but undoubtedly making their communities a better place for its people.”
The African Leadership magazine Persons of the Year is in its 8th year. It is an annual award for Africans who distinguish themselves in the line of duty. It also rewards African trailblazers in the year under review.
In effect, this year’s selection committee retained the four broad themes from the previous year. Namely: Africans whose activities, policies and actions have contributed to ‘Investments into Africa’s young people, jobs and wealth creation; promoting sustainable peace and development, delivering of democratic values; and the promotion of Africa’s image globally.
