So why is company culture such a big deal? Why do successful companies pay so much attention to it? And why do smaller businesses and startups not think it matters?
According to entrepreneur.com, company culture is a must have for every business today. Not creating the right culture could well be the reason why your business never achieves success or longevity.
In this post, I will address 3 of the reasons why the right company culture is important:
1. It reflects the company’s commitment to delivering its brand promise
The company’s culture is a manifestation of its mission, vision and core values (MVCs). This explains why you must treat the crafting of your MVCs very seriously. They are not just fancy words you put on paper, but form the basis for how your company will behave and deliver what it is set up to do.
2. Forms the basis for attracting the right people
The right company culture attracts the right people to your team. This ensures that you do not have misfits who will undermine your pursuit of excellence. You will find that some employees are not necessarily lazy but just do not seem to get where you want to go with your company. Getting the MVCs right helps weed out misfits.
3. Critical part of the company’s strategy and differentiation
The basis for your differentiation lies in your culture and not on some cleverly crafted strategic plan. The strategic plans are important, but you need the right people with the right attitudes and common purpose to successfully execute it. The company culture provides the foundation for this to happen.
We will use future posts to clearly explain how each of these is successfully achieved. You can also sign up for one of our training sessions (Building a team that excels at its mandate) to get hands on help on creating the right company.
